Black Tie or lounge suit
The London International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists provides a showcase for 38 exceptionally talented young performers from around the world, who have made it through the preliminary rounds. They will compete in the following categories: A, up to age 11; B, up to age 14; C, up to age 16; D, up to age 19.
The semi-final will be held on Monday 3rd March, followed by the final on Tuesday 4th March. Both of these daytime sessions are open to the public (for which there is no admission fee).
A Gala Concert will be held in the evening of 4th March, with admission for this prestigious event for ticket holders only (prices as noted above). This Gala Concert will feature a repertoire of Chopin pieces performed by the immensely talented winners of each age category. The jury will award a Grand Prize for the best overall performance at the end of the concert. Additionally, everyone attending the concert will be able to vote for a performer to be awarded the Gala Audience Prize.
Illustrious jury members for the final rounds and Gala Concert include: Professor Piotr Paleczny (Juror and prize winner of the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw), Professor John Rink (Cambridge University and Jury Member of the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw), Professor Murray McLachlan (Head of Keyboard at Chetham's School of Music), Lady Rose Cholmondeley (President of the Chopin Society in London) and Professor Deniz Arman Gelenbe (Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance), Professor William Fong (Head of Keyboard at the Purcell School of Music), Artur Haftman (Artistic Director of LI-CC & SIMA Classics & internationally acclaimed concert pianist).
