Govind Dhiman
Govind was born in 1999 and began to learn the piano at the age of 7 before being awarded a music scholarship at Ashford School in 2011, where he began studying with Stephen Dandridge. In the following year he made his first public appearance at the Kent International Piano Course. Since then, Govind has attended and participated in several masterclasses and competitions. In 2013, Govind took first prize at the Kent Piano Festival and was titled Kent Young Pianist of the Year. Aged 16, he was also a finalist in the Marlowe Young Musician of the Year Competition 2015 where he performed variations from Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with the Kent Concert Orchestra at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury. The following year he was given third prize at the Sevenoaks Young Musician of the Year Competition. In 2017, Govind was awarded the David Gosling Piano Scholarship to study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London studying with Mikhail Kazakevich, Gabriele Baldocci and Peter Tuite. After completing his undergraduate degree in 2021, he has continued to study at Trinity Laban, working towards his master’s degree under the tutorage of Professor Mikhail Kazakevich. Govind has performed at venues including the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks, Wigmore Hall, the A.B. Michelangeli Hall in Bolzano and the European Academy for Music and Performing Arts in Motepulciano.
