Komeda - “Romanse”
A concert of music and songs by Krzysztof Komeda, Polish composer and jazz pianist
This concert has been especially created by two young Polish musicians, jazz vocalist Joanna Wojtkiewicz and jazz pianist Mateusz Kaszuba, as a personal tribute to Krzysztof Komeda, the renowned Polish composer and jazz pianist. They discovered Komeda through the film scores he composed for eminent directors including Andrzej Wanda, Roman Polanski and Jerzy Skolimowski. As they explored Komeda’s film scores more deeply they discovered lyrics that were a perfect match for the music. The lyrics were written by some of Poland’s most celebrated songwriters, including Agnieszka Osiecka and Wojciech Młynarski, which makes this an inter-generational collaboration !
Joanna Wojtkiewicz studied at the Akademia Muzyczna (Music Academy) in Poznań, and as a distinguished jazz vocalist she has won various awards in Poland.
Mateusz Kaszuba graduated from the Jazz Faculty of the Frederic Chopin University of Music and a postgraduate of the Jazz Faculty of the Music Academy in Krakow.
Joanna Wojtkiewicz and Mateusz Kaszuba will also be joined by Jan Kusz a jazz saxophonist. He graduated from Syydansk Musikkonservatorium (Danish National Academy of Music) with a first class degree, and has already won several awards.
