Novelist Carolyn Kirby will present an illustrated talk about the people and events of World War Two in Poland and England, which inspired her acclaimed novel, When We Fall. A Polish language edition of this book has also been published, titled Miłość w Cieniu Wojny (Love in the Shadow of War).
Through the Nazi invasion of Poland, and subsequent resistance to the occupation, Carolyn uncovers the real life tragedy and heroism which she dramatised in this fictional account. The novel turns on choices that have to be made, and the consequences that follow. with the setting ranging from German-occupied Poland to war-time England.
The talk will be followed by a Q & A and an opportunity to buy a signed copy of the book with Polish and English language editions available.
