Hats are, in one sense, a practical item of clothing, though a hat can also be so much more: a style statement, status symbol, part of a uniform or ceremonial.
Poland’s oldest designer and manufacturer of hats - currently operating as POLKAP SA - recently celebrated its 100th Anniversary. This is a unique achievement in Poland, but also throughout Europe.
The manufacturing process used at POLKAP is still, quite literally, hands on, as skilled employees use traditional techniques to craft various designs. Machinery merely plays a supporting role in the process, providing assistance.
The fascinating story of this renowned hat maker, and the range of designs produced, will be introduced, explored, and illustrated with slides and film clips.
