We are happy to announce the latest of our monthly 'Musical Moments'. These concerts take place on the first Monday of every month and are followed by a buffet with wine. This month we welcome Sandeep Gurrapadi and Chiara Naldi.
The ‘Musical Moments’ concerts have been made possible by the very kind cooperation of The Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. We are very privileged in being able to present these young, highly talented musicians who are already making their mark in the music world.
Currently completing his master’s at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Sandeep Gurrapadi has been the Kathleen Roberts, Kathleen Creed, and the British Council GREAT India Scholar, and is currently the Drapers de Truckheim Scholar.
This year he was the winner/finalist of various competitions and performed leading opera roles in Haydn’s La Fedelta Premiata (Royal Opera, Mumbai), Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, Thea Musgrave’s Christmas Carol, Odaline De-la Martinez’s Slave Opera Trilogy (as part of London Festival of American Music) and as Fenton in Falstaff (TL Opera Scenes). Sandeep is also a keen composer/director - recently co-wrote and premiered his third staged production, ‘Chance’ (Dec 18’). Alongside his studies Sandeep undertook two concurrent educational placements with the English National Opera and Streetwise Opera.
Chiara Naldi started learning the piano at the age of 6 and at 13 she was admitted to the "G. B. Martini" Conservatoire in Bologna to study under the guidance of Professor Mauro Landi. In April 2017 Chiara completed her Master's Degree in Piano Performance with Honours at the Bologna Conservatoire and she is currently studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with Professor Sergio de Simone.
She has been twice awarded the "Magone" scholarship for piano pupils of the Bologna Conservatoire. She has also attended classes with Professors Deniz Arman Gelenbe, Martino Tirimo, Margaret Fingerhut, Peter Tuite on interpretation, Professor Douglas Finch for improvisation and Professors Carlo Mazzoli and Silvia Rambaldi for performance on fortepiano and harpsichord.
She has performed in numerous concerts and festivals in Italy and France and in London. Her repertoire ranges from Baroque to Contemporary music and improvisation, she enjoys performing as a soloist as well as a chamber musician. Chiara is also keen in collaborating with composers.
Chiara, Sandeep and violins Martha-Maria were joint winners of the 2018 Gladys Puttick Improvisation Competition and continue their collaboration with performances in various venues across Europe.
